Finding ground coffee between the burrs is perfectly normal when you purchase a Mazzer grinder. At Mazzer, each assembly operator is responsible for assembling and testing the grinder from start to finish, including grinding some coffee beans to ensure everything is working perfectly.
Mazzer does not sell appliances outside the country for which they are intended. We recommend not to use plug adapters or to modify the cables and plug of the grinder.
A grinder purchased in Europe is not compatible for use in the US, and vice versa, due to differences in voltage, electrical frequency, specialized motor and wiring requirements. Additionally, grinders sold in the US or EU must meet specific regulations for each market.
Mazzer recommed not sprayiung the beans with warter before grinding as this could cause clogging of the burr outlets, risk of Jamming and burr oxidation.
Each component related to adjustment and grinding undergoes tolerance checks using both optical and contact measurement technologies after machining. The factory's tooling equipment is inspected several times daily to ensure proper calibration in response to changing climate conditions. In addition, our team also performs parallelism checks at the end of the assembly line
Mazzer burrs have a unique and dedicated surface finishing which makes them ready to go and stable straight from the very beginning. To initiate the grinder, just make sure you don’t use the very first 50 g of ground coffee for preparing coffee.
We would like to inform you that all of our devices include plastic components that are fully suitable for food contact and comply with the relevant food-safety standards.
The only product in our range that does not contain any plastic components is the Omega manual coffee grinder: OMEGA
Mazzer Mini range is supplied with 233M bearing steel flat burrs, which deliver well balanced extractions, rich velvety texture, pleasant acidity and a relevant body, particularly suited to cut through milk. The structure of flavours is complex and its intensity stays through the whole experience. They are ideal to grind dark roasted coffee beans.
Mazzer Mini range can be equipped with an optional second burr set of high-performance tooling steel burrs, the series ZZ | k202P, which stand out for sweet delicate extractions, refined flavours, silky texture, and medium body. Mazzer K202P burrs are recommended for light to medium roasted coffees and smooth out acidity with a pleasant suitness.

Mazzer Mini range is ment to be used as a hopper grinder, loading beans in the hopper and gradually dosing coffee with the provided user interface. When used with the hopper full, the grinder has a retention of approximately 8 grams - this refers to the coffee that remains in the grinding chamber, so between the burrs and in the chute. This is the amount of coffee which should be purged after a change in the fineness of the grind, to have a difference in the extraction time. If you are looking for a single dose grinder see the Mazzer Philos. When used in single dosing mode, at steady level (so after the first 3 doses ground), Mazzer Mini range has a retention of approx. 0.1 g.
Mazzer Mini range is recommended for grinding up to 1 kg of coffee per day.
Both conical grinders allow all adjustments, from french press to turkish/ibrik coffee, but Omega X differs from the Omega model for a smaller step size adjustment. With 11-micron steps, three times smaller than the Omega, it offers even more control, making it ideal for espresso preparations.
Conversely, for those who favor reading convenience, the Omega model offers the ultimate ease of use, with all preparations set in a single turn of the dial so that the numerical reference is always the same. On Omega X you need 3 turns to cover the all adjustment range from hybric to french press.
Both sets of burrs guarantee consistent particle size distribution. On espresso preparation you can expect a full bodied rich cup, mellow texture with chocolathe and nutty flavours. On filter preparation you will enjoy a complexe flavoured cup with medium body and a long/persistent after taste.
The Omega is suitable for all brewing methods, from French press to espresso, turkish/ibrik to filter coffee.

Use a clean dry cloth or brush.
Do not use water or any other liquid, do not wash with chemical or abrasive substances. None of the components are dishwasher-safe.
Should you disassemble the unit to clean it inside follow the instructions provided in the instruction manual.
The coffee grinder contains small components that are easy to lose. Be vigilant whilst cleaning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07FbQXynIYw
True Zero calibration is maintained if instructions are followed
The grinder has a wide dial which covers all adjustment positions from espresso to batch brew coarseness in one round. Every notch corresponds to 6 microns of widening and is highly repeatable going coarse to fine and vice versa.
The dial is factory-calibrated with a slight gap between the burrs at position 0 to prevent contact, and can be easily recalibrated by repositioning the adjustment cover.
You can switch to stepless mode for more granularity. The dial is factory calibrated with space between the burrs at position 0 to prevent contact. It can be recalibrated by repositioning the adjustment cover.

Yes. The grind setting is adjusted on the rear burr.
Remove the front plate by loosening the wing screws, then pull out the front burr carrier to access the chamber. Reassemble after cleaning; your settings will remain unchanged.
Calibration is necessary:
It is not required for routine cleaning.

No. This is usually caused by small coffee particles trapped between the burrs.
Run the grinder and adjust the grind setting towards fine to grind them out and eliminate the noise.
The grinder may be clogged due to very fine grinding or oily or pre-wet beans.
Disassemble and clean the grinder thoroughly, then avoid excessively fine grind settings and the use of moist beans.
Mazzer Philos can be ordered choosing between two different sets of stainless steel burrs, both 64 mm wide: the I200D and the I189D.
Philos, when properly used, grants a negligible grounds retention. Proceed as follows: grind your dose in the canister and pull and release the chute knocker multiple times to discharge the most amount of coffee grounds. Remove the canister and, with the motor still going, insert the dose finisher in the chute to the end and rotate it quarter of a turn clockwise and anti-clockwise to clean the last grounds. Once used, the dose finisher can be placed back in its slot behind the front plate, do not force the rotation to complete the turn as it risks to damage the finisher.
Grind into the canister and use the chute knocker to release grounds.
The Philos features a dedicated grounding connection for its canister, so we recommend using the original canister provided with the device.
The creation of static electricity during grinding is a natural phenomenon. The system is designed to keep grounds contained within the canister and prevent dispersion. To release any remaining coffee, we suggest gently tapping the canister on the counter before transferring it into the filter.
No, please ensure that the grinder is thoroughly cleaned before performing calibration, as the contact you are hearing may be caused by residual coffee fragments.
